Gear up for Plymouth’s Green Street Fair

Get ready to paint downtown Plymouth green this weekend. For the third year, the city will play host to a 3-day event dedicated to eco-friendly living. Green Street Fair was founded to educate all ages about the benefits of living a green, organic and eco-friendly lifestyle.
It’s also a chance for artisans, entertainers and speakers to come together and share in this message.
Last year Green Street Fair drew more than 90,000 people to quaint downtown Plymouth. This year’s event kicks off at noon tomorrow, April 30 and runs until 7 p.m. The fair resumes from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and again 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
What’s in store?
Glad you asked. Motor city natives may be drawn to The Alternative Highway, which focuses on fuel economy and lowering carbon emissions. Handmade Detroit and 93.9 The River are sponsoring Rethunk: Art, a chance to create art out of fabric and a embroidery hoop. Join the Michigan Recycling Coalition for Recycling 101. Bring an old cell phone to the fair to be sure it’s recycled properly.
And don’t forget the kids. From making a miniature compost to jumping around Fort Box in Kellogg Park, there’ll be plenty for them to do, too.
The Eco-Beats stage will feature live entertainment each afternoon. There are some acts, like American Mars, The Mydols and The Verve Pipe, that you won’t want to miss. And the list of exhibitors looks amazing. From organic cooking demos to unveiling new eco-friendly products, Green Street Fair is worth a visit this weekend.
