How Did it Happen?

That is the question I ask myself today, Monday July 26, 2010.  How did I get hooked on The Bachelorette?  I have never been much for reality TV and I hate what I call trash TV.  Jerry, Jerry, Jerry is not in my vocabulary.  So I wonder tonight, as I watched the men of this seasons Bachelorette on “The Men Tell All” episode, how did it happen.

I have never watched an entire season of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.  When the show first came on the air, I watched an episode or two, but honestly paid so little attention that I don’t remember who the first Bachelor was.  You hear all about the show from friends, co-workers, on the news and now on Facebook  so many times I would watch the last rose ceremony episode just to see who the contestant chose.    Even though I never watched an entire season, I was aware of what was happening and who the contestants are.   It’s like the daytime soaps; watch for a week and you’ll understand the entire run.

What made this season different and why I watched every single episode remains somewhat of a mystery.   I attribute some of it to it being summer and that most of the weekly shows are either in reruns or not on at all.  A part of me wonders if the highlights (or low-lights, depending on your perspective) being sprawled all over the news, entertainment shows, magazines and Facebook is what drew me in.   I watch so little TV that I find it amusing that I am watching this every single week and loving it.  Maybe it’s the fairy tale, the Cinderella story that drew me in.  Yep, that’s what I’m going with, cause I hate to admit any other reason as I ask myself, “How Did it Happen?”
