Southfield Farmers Market

During spring, summer, and fall there are few activities that help you celebrate the full breath of the seasons and creative fare as much as you experience when attending a Farmers Market.
If you are lucky enough to have a Farmers Market in your community, you will undoubtedly find many delightful surprises there amongst the expected and unexpected bounty of fresh fruits and vegetables.
Unexpected items like wonderful handmade soaps and hand salve, from Ida Bell Handmade Soaps,
to hand-built and thrown pottery by Debbie Liberman of DL Creations.

Fresh Fruits and Veggies
Expected items of select fresh fruits and vegetables to choose from.
And if you indeed are among those lucky enough to have a Farmers Market in your community, you should support the vendors as often as possible. Vendors grow and bring their fresh fare and goods in hopes to keep the community spirit alive, as well as to bring you items at prices that you may not find at your local mega-store.
I frequent the Southfield Farmer’s Market, which is now located in a section of the parking lot of Northland Shopping Center, directly off of JLHudson Drive. With new tents added to the new location, patrons have more elbow room and roaming space, vendors have more space to spread out.
The Southfield Farmers Market, http://www.southfieldfarmersmarket.net/,
is open every Thursday, until October 28th, from 8:30am to 3pm and features…
- Fresh fruits and vegetables
- Herbs and herbal products
- Jams and Jellies
- Michigan cherry products
- Vegan pastries
- Specialty Cakes
- Hot dogs, polish sausage, potato chips, pop, water
- Flowers and Plants
- Freshly baked breads and baked goods
- Homemade Salsas
- Crafts
- Homemade Michigan Honey
- Organic Teas
You can find a list of vendors HERE
You can also visit their web site for featured recipes and to download two great cookbooks, “Get Fresh!” and “Get Fresh Too!”, that in addition to having great recipes, gives tips on selecting, storing and using fresh fruits and veggies (always good info) HERE.
Any Farmers Market is a great place to have lunch and do a little grocery shopping at the same time, and the vendors will be very very happy to see you.
